
Regent Surgical Health Partners with Physicians to Open Surgery Center in Mount Dora, FloridaNew facility provides convenience to patients in central Florida lake community Westchester, IL (October 26, 2009) — Regent Surgical Health, a leading developer of surgery centers and physician-owned hospitals across the country, announced today the opening of the Surgery Center of Mount Dora in Mount Dora, Florida. Regent partnered with nine physician owners to develop the new ambulatory surgery center, a newly constructed, 12,000 square foot facility. The physicians are the majority owners of the ASC and Regent Surgical Health manages the facility. “The Surgery Center of Mount Dora offers patients the patient-focused care, high patient satisfaction rates and improved outcomes that are the hallmark of physician-owned facilities,” says Tom Mallon, chief executive officer of Regent. “Mount Dora is a beautiful lakeside community that now boasts a state-of-the-art surgery center delivering convenience and efficiency.” The facility features three operating rooms and a procedure room. Specialties offered at the center include orthopedic surgery, such as joint arthroscopic surgery, reconstructive surgery and fracture management; spine surgery, general surgery, including the latest minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures; urology, featuring advanced surgical procedures for the treatment of prostate diagnoses; podiatry and gastroenterology. The center has a staff of 21, including RNs, surgical technologists, a radiology technologist, central processing technician and office staff. Shirley Thomas, RN, is the center’s administrator and Robert McGuire, RN, is director of nursing. The business manager is Dorothy Smith. “We selected Regent to join us on this project because I was aware of Regent’s unparalleled record of success with physician partners after working with them at a surgery center in the Midwest,” says Dr. Samir Guru, who led the effort to organize and launch the new Mount Dora center. “Regent brings the management expertise that we need, which allows the physician partners to focus on patient care. The result is we’re able to bring a great healthcare resource to the community of Mount Dora.” The center, located at 3710 Lake Center Drive in Mount Dora, is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. Mount Dora is located in the central part of the state, approximately 30 miles northwest of Orlando. The project architects were Jass & Associates of Mount Dora, and the developer was Stevens Construction of Fort Myers.
